The weather for Sunday 15th September looked promising but in fact it was better than that – it was absolutely perfect for Town Band’s outdoor concert and the last of Verwood Concert Brass’ summer season.

The combination of good weather, fabulously entertaining music and delicious refreshments from the VCB tea tent certainly made for what was reckoned to be the biggest crowd to date.

Many comments were received about the great variety of music which included movie and show tunes like ‘And All That Jazz’, ‘The Magnificent Seven’, ‘Out of Africa’, a great tenor horn solo by Jess Saunders of ‘Over the Rainbow’ and, not that there was any chance of this happening on such a nice day ‘Singin’ in the Rain’.

Some more contemporary pieces, such as ‘Life on Mars’, ‘Uptown Funk’, ‘Hot Stuff’ and ‘Happy’.

And of course some good old brass band staples of ‘Amparito Roca’, ‘Bandology’ and the perennial crowd pleaser ‘The Floral Dance’.

In fact the crowd were so pleased that come the end they showed it by calling for “More”. The band duly obliged with another rendition of ‘And All That Jazz’.

What a great afternoon.
