Wessex Brass Band Association Contest, competing against ten other bands from around the south west of England. Ian Harris, Band manager writes: ‘We played a march, Red Shield, and Of Men and Mountains, a fiendishly difficult test piece that was used at the recent national finals in London. All the rehearsal and practice time clearly paid off, as we were awarded second place in the march and second place for the test piece, also winning the best horn section prize and best interpretation (conductor) prize. The band are pleased to have successfully performed such a difficult piece, and we are now looking forward to playing some Christmas tunes!’
