It is with great sadness to bring you news that we have lost another member of our VCB family – Kate Ward – who passed away on Sunday after a few years battling cancer.

Kate was not a player in VCB but a helper who, as any banding organisation knows, are just as important and invaluable in supporting events.

Kate was part of a family within the VCB family. Granddaughter, Ellie Mullins and son-in-law, Richard Mullins, have been part of VCB for approx 10 years, having started in the Training Band and now playing euphonium and Bb bass respectively in the Town Band.

In addition Sally Mullins (Kate’s daughter / Richard’s wife) is also a wonderful VCB helper, using her graphic design skills to produce our concert programmes and advertising posters plus can always be relied on to organise and serve refreshments at our events.

Kate and her husband Clive (pictured here at one of our Picnic in the Park events running the raffle stall) would regularly help out. For those that attend our concerts at the Verwood Hub, I am sure you will recognise Kate as the smiling and cheerful person on the door selling the programmes. Or perhaps will have seen her at the Training Band Coffee Morning concerts either helping with refreshments, selling raffle tickets, or even running a plant stall to help raise funds for the band.

Kate & Clive

Kate will be sorely missed and all at VCB thank her for her unstinting support and send our heartfelt condolences to Sally, Richard, Ellie, Clive, family and friends.
