What a turn out for the Verwood Training Band Musical Coffee Morning concert held at the Verwood Memorial Hall on Saturday 16th Feb.

It is probably the largest audience to date for this event and they were certainly treated to a great selection of music from the Training Band – the reigning Wessex Champions – under the baton of Mike Dunnings.

But in addition the audience were also treated to performances by the new starter group ‘The Acorns’ or rather ‘The Mighty Acorns’ as they have become to be know. This lively group is led by Bill Ferrier who demonstrates what fun can be had making music.

The informal atmosphere of a coffee morning, at which there was an ample supply of delicious home made cake, all made for a very enjoyable event. It gives a great opportunity for the players to perform and there is no better encouragement than having a full and appreciative audience to play to.

Thank you to all that played, helped with the refreshments, bric-a-brac, book and cake stalls and turned up to support the band.

The next Verwood Concert Brass event is the ‘Heroes & Villains’ themed concert at the Verwood Hub on Saturday 27th April at which all of the bands of VCB will be playing. We look forward to seeing you there.
